I'm so amazed by the fact that the older I get, there is STILL no place like home.
Times change, seasons change, children grow up, yet there is still the tug at my heart...to find my way *HOME* for the holidays.
This year, will be no different. In a few hours Tim and I will load up Andrew, our 3 fur-pup children and make the 5 hour trek to Grandpa and Grandma's. (Or as Andrew refers to them: G-pa and G-ma's)
We will arrive, (as usual) super late...but that's ok. My parents will be sleeping in their recliner's, waiting for our arrival. Once we appear, their will be lot's of hugs, laughin', and of course a midnight snack. More laughin'...and catching up and then off to bed super late.
It's been almost one year (at Christmas time last year) since we've been home...for an extended weekend; and we are so excited to have 4 full days of total relaxing. Why is it, that an extended weekend away at Thankgiving is something we long for???
As excited as we are to *get away*, we certainly will be missing and thinking about Ashley has she spends her first holiday a 1,000 miles from home.
But fear not, Grandma has already made arrangements for all of us (that's 14 in total) to gather in the family room Thanksgiving night to call Ashley via a conference call. How excited Ashley will be to listen to the banter, and chatter of her cousins, not to mention her uncles!!
Ah...I think I can smell the turkey already, and I can hardly wait for the traditional *riced potatoes*...YUM-OH!! Not to mention the homemade pumpkin, peach, apple, lemon meringue, and my favorite RASPBERRY pie.
Wishing each of you, a Happy Thanksgiving! We truly are BLESSED people, to live in a country that is free, where we are privileged to serve an amazing Savior.
Blessings to each of you~
