All I can say is.....

We woke up to 12 below zero AGAIN this morning :-) and I asked my hubby, "Why do we live in *Minn-e-snow-da*?????" His response was, "I LOVE the cold temps."

In fact, he told me he'd LOVE to live somewhere that is zero, or below.....6 months out of the year. WHAT....not me baby.....I don't mind winter....but this cold...has GOT to go!!!

Currently, it is a beautiful sunny day, but don't let that deceive you...it's warmed up to a warm 2 below zero.

Days like this sure make ya wanna curl up in a warm blanket, next to the fire, and drink LOTS of hot coffee...with french vanilla creamer of course. :-) :-) :-)

According the the forcast, we will experience cold temps through the end of February, which of course, will lead up to the time Ashley arrives home. I think I'd better dig out her winter coat, since it was in the 60's when she left Minnesota last September.

And, speaking of Ashley we are now down to 12 days till she's officially home. Woo..Hoo!!! (She will arrive home...to Maui in 3 days) I've been super busy preparing things for her home coming. I thought it was time to change her room from a high school, miss-mash, to a comfy, *Shabby Chic* type feel. Of course, my hubby said it looks SO cute, she'll NEVER want to move out...to which I said, "what's wrong with that?" :-)

Seriously though, I'm excited to create a room that will be so warm and inviting for her since she has spent the last 6 months...in less than good conditions.

I spent this past weekend paint a beautiful night table, and corner bookshelf that my Dad built for her room. I also painted, and decorated adorable wall signs that say, LOVE, BELIEVE...etc...they look like this.

I painted 2 of the signs sage green, with white trim, and 2 white with sage green trim. I hung them with beautiful sage green/white ribbon attaching them antique wall hooks that were rust in color and I simply painted them white...to give them a shabby chic look.

I've finished up her window treatments, painted her wicker laundry basket and wicker garbage can and rearranged her room.

I have yet to find a shabby chic small writing desk, but have no fear..a friend from church told me on Sunday that she has one she wants to get rid of so I'm stopping off at her house tonight after small group to take a peek.

Ashley has always used my bedroom dresser that I grew up with (similar to this one)
and since it's....hum...40 + years old (it was my cousins' before mine) it's needing a new paint job. So, I took a vote (hubby and Andrew...and my friend Lynn) and everyone agreed, I need to repaint it..to match the night table, and corner bookshelf. My plan is to sand it, prime it, and get it painted this weekend so please wish me luck..this is my LAST full weekend to get A LOT wrapped up before Ash get's home.

I hope to share pictures once she's home...since, after all...she has our digital camera.

Other than the frigid temps...this is what I've been up too!

I hope it's warm where you are!?!?!

  1. Kim,

Shabby chic is my absolute favorite decor! I can't wait to see what you have done to her room. There must be something in the air, my friend Chelle at The World of Chelle is decorating her kids three bedrooms too.

If this is contagious, send it my way. My house needs a facelift.

    Blessings, Joanne

p.s. I was glad to finally here that your husband LOVES the cold. I have always felt sorry for you people. Looks like I was wasting my sympathy. You would have to love the cold to live in MinneSNOWta! It is 60 degrees here today...and it is cold to me. :O)
