Happy Valentine's Day

I Corinthians 13:13 says:
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these…is LOVE.” (niv)

Imagine with me if you will, your child bringing you a heart that they so carefully cut out; and they ask you to write:

“Why do you Love me?”

As you ponder that question you begin to write,

I LOVE you because you are cute.

Then you stop and think, “if you were ever hurt and your face were to be scared, I’d still LOVE you.”

You then erase cute, and write that you LOVE them because they are kind. But wait a minute, they aren’t ALWAYS kind, so you erase that word too.

You then write that you LOVE them because they LOVE Jesus. But after pondering those words you realize that perhaps, some day they will be faced with many decisions, and for a while, they may fall away from God for a time, so you erase that word as well.

You finally decide that the best thing to write is:

I LOVE them, because they are MINE.

We are all so BLESSED that this is the very way Jesus would describe why he LOVE us. Because of our sin nature, we all have imperfections, shortcomings, faults, and often…(sometimes TOO often) we wander away from the heart of our Father for a season doing our own thing, or going our own way.

Yet, Jesus still LOVES us……why you ask?????

Because we are HIS!
