What a great realization to think about. God wants each of us...to "Hold His Hand." Today, as I read a devotional from Sarah Youngs book called: Jesus Calling, I was gently reminded of the importance of holding his hand.
She says,
"Hold My hand, and walk joyously with Me through this day. Together we will savor the pleasures and endure the difficulites it brings. Be on the lookout for everything I have prepared for you: stunning scenery, bracing winds of adventure, cozy nooks for resting when you are weary, and much more. I am your Guide, as well as your constant Companion. I know every step of the journey ahead of you, all the way to heaven.
You don't have to choose between staying close to Me and staying on course. Since I am the Way, staying close to Me is staying on course. As you focus your thoughts on Me, I will guide you carefully along today's journey. Don't worry about what is around the next bend. Just concentrate on enjoying My Presence and staying in step with Me."
Wow, what amazing truths about God's desire for us to rest in him.
Today our family is resting in him as our heart are heavy for the precious family Ashley Nanny's for. Today, would have been the Mom's birthday, and Ashley is certainly feeling the stress and tension that surrounds this sad day. (How do people get through tragedies like this without the Lord?)
This past weekend, the Dad's Mom was here (from Iowa) to watch the kids (girl-5, boy-2) and was there yet this morning when Ashley arrived. This sweet...sweet Grandma bought Ashley a gift for her Bible to take with her as she returns to YWAM in September. (Ashley's had the opportunity to have a number of conversations with the G-ma to know that she is a believer)
Through the Grandma's tears, she expressed her heartfelt Thankfulness to Ashley for all that she's brought to the lives of this family through her love, care, concern, and disciple for the children.
Ashley has truly brought structure, and order, and the gospel to the hearts and souls of these precious little people. The little girl "T", LOVE'S Veggie Tales, and she dances and sings all the songs. So today, Ashley is taking her to the christian bookstore to buy her a few DVD's, as it's hard to watch these amazing videos on the computer.
Weekly, on Wednesday nights, I've had the blessing of watching the little boy "B", so that Ashley and Andrew could attend Youth Group. We found this adorable little kid's worship CD, and I began teaching "B", all the motions to songs such as "Zaccheus was a Wee Little Man", "I'm in the Lord's Army", "Oh be careful little Eye's what you see".....and the list could go on..and on..and on. All "B" has to do is hear the first note, of a song and he RUNS to our kitchen, and sings his little heart out as he does all the motions.
I often wonder what the Dad thinks when "B" dances around singing, "I in da Vard Arme....Yes Sir"!!!
Our pray, is that as Ashley leaves in September, and my husband, Andrew and I now continue on in caregiving (occassionally) for these children until Ashley returns, that God will continue to help us plant seeds of Faith into their lives.
Today, our family is practice "Holding His Hand", as we prayerfully seek him as we reach out to this family. We know that God has brought this family into our lives for such a time as this, and we know God wants to lead this family to the foot of his cross to find complete healing, and wholeness!
I've missed something. What happened to the family Ashley nanny's for? I missed what happened but sounds like some sort of tragedy of death maybe??
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing to be a part of this precious family that is in such need right now.
What blessings to be able to sweet your daughter ministering to others AND to be able to minister with her as a family!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you - I just don't know how people get through hard times or even just LIFE without the Lord. Thank you, Jesus, for loving me and walking with me through every minute of every day.
Great post, Kim!
Kim,
ReplyDeleteMy heart was simply touched by your words today. I am thrilled to know that God is tremendously using your family in this way! I am encouraged by your words to seek out those hurting families around me and give them hope through their hard times! Thank you for the reminder of what is truly important!
In Christ Alone,
Kim
I'm sure that you are VERY proud of Ashley. It's neat to hear this story of how your family has been the hands and feet of Jesus.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to check out this book. I'm thankful that He never lets go.
P.S. Didn't know you were a 3 dog family too!
I don't know the story of the family that Ashley is a nanny for. But that really doesn't matter. How great is God that even in the taking of their mom HE has provided them with your precious family! The lives of those children will be forever richer because of how Ashley (and all of you) have poured into them.
ReplyDeleteGreat words on "holding His hand"
Love,

What a blessing you all are to this sweet family and I know the Grandma must feel especially happy knowing someone cares about her dear little ones like you all do.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are truly a blessing for them and they are lucky to have you all.
Hope all is well my dear friend. I promise to write soon. Miss ya.
I am not sure what happened in this precious family's lives... but I see the love of the Lord wrapping it's comforting arms around them in the form of your lovely family. I am thanking and praising Him today for Ashley!
ReplyDeletePraising the Lord that He put Ashely in their lives. This must be a hard day for the family. I don't know what happened but it is obvious the mom is no longer here. You and have done a beautiful job raising your daughter to seek the Lord.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Linda

Thank you for those words from Sarah Young it's just what I needed to hear as I go for two very important tests tomorrow at the hospital. To not worry about what is around the bend, for me it's not so much the worry but the anxiousnes in the waiting, and I am reminded to continue to snuggle in the palm of his hands as he carries me through. Thank you for this beautiful words of encouragement. I'm glad the Lord lead me to your blog today..

We never know the twists and turns that our life will take to land us in a place of ministry that we could have never imagined. I am so glad that God placed your daughter in the lives of this family at just the right time. And while I don't know anything about the situation, I am glad for the provision of God in all of our lives via well-placed friends and individuals who "joy" in being his hands and feet of ministry.

What a blessing you are to this family. After being through a tragedy myself, I can tell you that it was the tangible things that people did for us that have stuck with me and left a mark on my heart. Your love and care for this family is evident.
ReplyDeleteI loved "You don't have to choose between staying close to Me and staying on course." thanks for sharing that.
ReplyDeleteI know the heart of our Father is rejoicing to see how you and your child are using your lives to bless this family... I know that as you 'HOLD TO HIS HAND' He will lead you to what is best... just keep holding on and asking... "Lord where do we go from here." Even the smallest things that we do in His name are never for naught!!
ReplyDeleteMay God richly bless you and your family...
In Him..
Sharon
